Cosmetic body sculpting and weight loss, formerly for medical specialists, also continue to rise in popularity for anti aging doctor DCs looking for a new revenue stream
Chiropractors are seeing increasing side income opportunities from anti aging doctor procedures, supplements and treatments as the U.S. population continues to rapidly age, and both men and women attempt to slow the march of time.
The anti aging doctor: turning back time
“For healthy aging, a quality collagen supplement with hydrolyzed collagen type I and III has been shown to lessen
the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and support skin elasticity,” Faaria Karim, ND, LAc, an anti aging doctor with Selkirk Naturopathic Clinic and Restoration Health Clinic told Chiropractic Economics. “As we age, our collagen production declines. Hydrolyzed collagen peptides signal fibroblast cells in the skin to make more collagen in the skin, improving the look and feel of aging skin when taken for at least four weeks.”
According to the Pew Research Center, 2020 numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau put the number of baby boomers
(between the ages of 55-73) at 71.6 million, and Generation X (between the ages of 39-54) is hot on their heels, numbering slightly more than 65 million. Combined, these two age cohorts are seeking out care from the anti aging doctor and wield formidable purchasing power.
Targeting movement and fall avoidance
Marketing fitness, balance, anti-aging chiropractic care for seniors can target anti-aging, senior athletes, or something as simple as marketing to seniors to maintain their balance and flexibility to avoid slips and falls, a killer for the 65+ age group.
One out of every four people aged 65 and older fall every year, according to data provided by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC). Additionally, one out of five of these seniors falling results in serious injury, with more than 800,000 seniors hospitalized annually due to hip fracture or a fall-related head injury. Death rates from seniors who have fallen have increased 30% since 2007. The CDC adds that if this current trajectory continues, by the year 2030, seven seniors will succumb to these injuries every 60 minutes and die as a result of a fall.
Among supplements, for seniors concerned with memory, brain function and mood, acetyl-L-carnitine can address
immunity, muscle and mood. Cosmetic body sculpting and weight loss, formerly for medical specialists, also continue to rise in popularity for DCs looking for a new revenue stream.
