F4CP lends support in Connecticut situation

February 8, 2010 — Connecticut is currently seeking to expand informed consent responsibilities to an unsupported level that serves to discredit the chiropractic profession. What started as in-state battle, consisting of anti-chiropractic billboards and bus signs casting aspersions on the profession, has grown into a well-organized campaign against the entire profession expanding into surrounding states.

Last year, with limited funds, the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP) placed positive advertisements in Connecticut newspapers hoping to give the Connecticut Chiropractic Association (CCA) and the Connecticut Chiropractic Council (CCC) assistance in positively promoting the profession. This year, F4CP’s board has decided to increase its support by earmarking up to $50,000

to assist the CCA and CCC.

The Foundation's public relations agency, CPR communications, will be coordinating the campaign with a local agency and working with the International Chiropractors Association (ICA), American Chiropractic Association (ACA), CCC, CCA, and the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA) in an effort to combat the anti-chiropractic perspective of these groups.

Over the next five months, the local agency will be monitoring the hearings and will provide the foundation with suggestions on how best to deal with the situation. Their media and legislative strategies will be reported directly to F4CP’s Board of Directors.
