NPA urges action against Senate bill
The Natural Products Association (NPA) is urging all individuals who visit its Web site and receive its e-newsletter to take action against a Senate bill (S.2470) that would limit sales of DHEA to minors.
According to NPA’s Web site, S.2470 was filed almost immediately after the release of the “Mitchell Report,” which outlined the problems with steroids in Major League Baseball. The bill would make it unlawful for any person (retailer) to knowingly sell, cause another to sell, or conspire to sell a product containing DHEA to anyone under age 18, including any such sale using the Internet. The bill exempts any sale made pursuant to a validly issued prescription.
Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) introduced the bill. He also previously introduced S. 762, which would label DHEA as a controlled substance.
To help keep DHEA legal, send a message to Congress asking senators to oppose S. 762 and S. 2470 and any amendment to restrict access to DHEA to minors.
