Standard Process provides students
hands-on experience
The Research and Development Department at Standard Process, Inc. hosted an undergraduate class from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to expose the students to a method critical to today’s biotechnology industry.
Students from Dr. Kirsten Crossgrove’s Biotechnology Lab Methods course visited the company to utilize the cell culture facilities in the basic research laboratory at Standard Process.
Students practiced culturing a human liver cancer cell line and measured the response of these cells to extracts from various vegetables in terms of the activity of quinone reductase, an enzyme that plays a role in cellular detoxification.
