Nordic Naturals continues commitment to
environmental protection issues

With growing concern of declining fish populations, Nordic Naturals stated it will continue its commitment to protect the world’s oceans by utilizing only fish species that are not endangered, and to harvest them from waters not exposed to overfishing.

The company currently uses three fish species for its omega-3 supplements — Arctic cod from Arctic Norway, plus anchovies and sardines from the South Pacific and the Norwegian Sea — none of which are considered endangered or overfished.

“Even though fish oil for nutritional supplements represents less than 3 percent of the total global fishing industry, we all need to come together to quickly solve this problem,” says Joar Opheim, CEO of Nordic Naturals and a native to Norway.
