Foot Levelers presents orthotics-related research
Foot Levelers, Inc. unveiled its newest research, “Custom Orthotics Effective at Reducing Injuries in a College Football Team,” at the 2007 Association of Chiropractic Colleges Educational Conference and Research Agenda Conference in Phoenix.
The goals of this study were to determine the effects of custom-made orthotics on the injury rate of a college football team, as well as the patients’ satisfaction level with their orthotics. Consenting patients were fitted for custom-made, flexible Spinal Pelvic Stabilizers and were asked to answer a pre-study and post-study questionnaire. The study used the previous year’s injury rate as the control.
Results of the study showed that lower body injuries decreased 15 percent, from 148 to 126; knee injuries decreased 31 percent, from 29 to 20; and lumbar spine injuries decreased 50 percent, from 14 to 7. Findings from the pre- and post-study questionnaires revealed nearly all player groups reported an above neutral satisfaction level with their orthotics.
