Search engine marketing, now taught in colleges

Search engine marketing (SEM) has exploded over the past few years. Companies have been hiring and training Internet marketers at an exponential rate. With this growth, colleges are now responding with degree programs tailored to meeting this new demand.

Rockford, Illinois (PRWEB) November 3, 2008 -- Growth within the search engine marketing (SEM) industry has seen an exponential increase over the past three years, and by 2011, this industry is forecast to reach $25.2 billion. According to the 2007 State of the Market Survey by the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization, the search engine marketing industry grew from $9.4 billion in 2006 to $12.2 billion in 2007. As the SEM industry continues its successful climb, colleges are responding to this new demand for professionals by offering degrees focused on strategic internet marketing.

Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, is one of these educational institutions that specializes in internet marketing. Students can obtain their degree in internet marketing through

I'm glad to see this happening. Honestly, the profession has been a little slow to adapt to the current trends in the new internet dynamics. For the last 3 years, our company has been showing doctors and students how to get new patients and create multiple sources of income through the use of Web 2.0 / Social Media and video marketing.

The good news is, much of the newer SEO, SEM, and social-network marketing is absolutely free. It's actually not that hard to do as well.
