Supplements for natural stress relief help Americans cope with financial crisis

CHATSWORTH, Calif., Oct 16, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Recent worrisome events and news has caused stress, poor mood, and even fear for many Americans. Today's business, economic, and world crises have added to already complicated American lives, possibly pushing even the most serene people over the edge, especially for those most affected by the latest events (such as people in banking, finance, and real estate who've seen their jobs diminish or disappear).

The American Psychological Association's (APA) annual Stress in America survey -- conducted mid-June to mid-August, 2008 -- shows that increasing stress is taking its toll on Americans' physical and emotional health. The survey found that, while everyone is

affected, older women are most affected; and, this stress affects health and coping behaviors.

According to Dr. Michael T. Yatcilla, Natrol's Research and Development VP, "It is well known that stress can cause a host of mental and physical health issues, including anxiety, irritability, nervousness, headaches, sleep challenges and fatigue, as well as digestive issues and even weight-gain."

While nobody can predict when things will improve, there are things we can do to help relieve stress, and stay calm during uncertain time, the same techniques which keep us mentally and physically fit during the good times are just as important, and perhaps even more important, to utilize during difficult times.
