ACA chiropractic summit addresses challenges of DCs
Practice satisfaction, profitability/viability, profession-wide collaboration, and Medicare/national healthcare reform are key issues the chiropractic profession must immediately address to ensure the rightful place of DCs in today’s healthcare system, according to a group of top-level representatives from major chiropractic organizations.
The representatives met Sept. 18 for a daylong chiropractic summit sponsored by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA).
The meeting served to strategize solutions to the most pressing issues facing DCs. A profession-wide survey, commissioned by the ACA last year, served as the starting point for discussion, followed by a series of brainstorming sessions on the key issues identified by the group as a whole.
Organizations represented at the summit included the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research, Breakthrough Coaching, New York Chiropractic College, The Masters Circle, Association of Chiropractic Colleges, Canadian Chiropractic Association, Council on Chiropractic Education, Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters, Congress of Chiropractic State Associations, National University of Health Sciences, Palmer College of Chiropractic, Texas Chiropractic College, and the World Federation of Chiropractic.
A follow-up summit will be held at the National Chiropractic Leadership Council (NCLC) 2008 in Washington, D.C., to review progress and address future areas of need.
