Sweere honored at Northwestern gala

More than 350 alumni, students, faculty, staff, donors, and friends of Northwestern Health Sciences University honored Joseph Sweere, DC, DABCO, DACBOH, FICC, professor in the College of Chiropractic at Northwestern, at its fifth annual “Stars Among Us” gala on Nov. 3.

During the award ceremony at the gala, which is an annual fundraiser recognizing the many people who have been instrumental in building the university’s international reputation as a natural health care pioneer, Sweere was recognized for his passion, dedication, and commitment to Northwestern and was presented with the Brilliant Star Award.

Sweere said he has dedicated his life to the practice of chiropractic and teaching because of his desire to help relieve the unnecessary amount of human suffering in the world. He said he believes others feel similarly, and share a passion for healing.

The gala, which took place at the Landmark Center in St. Paul, Minn., also featured a VIP reception, followed by a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing, a Texas Hold ’Em tournament, and dozens of chances to win prizes. More than 125 gift baskets featuring prizes including an iPod, a television, and gift certificates were raffled during the event, which expected to generate $100,000 for the university.
