Employment-eligibility form revised
Form I-9, required to verify employment eligibility in the United States, has been updated. Employers are no longer able to accept five types of previously acceptable documents to verify eligibility.
All U.S. employers are responsible to verify the employment eligibility and identity of all employees hired to work in the United States. The list of acceptable documents is printed on the back of the I-9 form. Eliminated from the list are:
• Certificate of U.S. Citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561);
• Certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570);
• Alien Registration Receipt Card (I-151);
• Permit to Reenter the United States (Form I-327); and
• Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571).
Employers should begin to use the new form with all new hires. It can be downloaded at www.ChiroEco.com/I-9form.
