COCSA launches National Backpack
Safety Program for 5th consecutive year
April is National Backpack Safety Month, and, for the fifth consecutive year, the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA) is promoting backpack safety awareness through the chiropractic profession.
The purpose of the program, which starts in April and is conducted year-round, is to educate students, parents, and teachers about the health issues associated with heavy backpacks and to teach ways to carry backpacks correctly to prevent injury.
Participating state associations receive $10 per kit purchased as a result of their efforts. Associations can promote COCSA’s National Backpack Safety Kit to member doctors and send a copy of the promotion to the COCSA office to indicate participation.
Doctors can participate by ordering a backpack safety kit by calling 877-249-1248, or by using the National Backpack Safety Kit Order Form that can be downloaded from the COCSA Web site.
The cost for a backpack safety kit is $69. The kit includes a “how-to” manual; a CD with materials and instructions for a successful backpack safety program; Attack of the Backpack Bully DVD; and 125 brochures.
The corporate partner for COCSA’s National Backpack Safety Program is Core Products, the licensed distributor of AirPacks backpacks to the chiropractic profession. For more information or materials, contact COCSA at cocsa@sc.rr.com or 803-356-6809.
