Connecticut DCs fight anti-chiropractic actions,
request support
The Connecticut Chiropractic Council (CCC) is urging its members and other chiropractors to support its efforts in fighting anti-chiropractic actions within the state.
Luigi DiRubba, DC, CCC president, told Chiropractic Economics the council is fighting a number of different anti-chiropractic attacks. Within the last year, he said, these attacks have included:
- “Injured by a chiropractor?” bus billboards,
- “Injured by a chiropractor?” print ads, and
- Anti-chiropractic legislation that would require only chiropractors to report malpractice claims.
Additionally, CCC is involved with protecting the interests of its members as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) investigates allegations of restraint of trade with managed-care organizations by CCC, the Connecticut Chiropractic Association (CCA), and the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA).
DeRubba said CCC has responded to these attacks, but each one costs the organization, in terms of public relations and legal fees. He is asking for contributions to the legal defense fund.
Interested chiropractors can send contributions to the Connecticut Chiropractic Council’s Legal Action Fund, 1010 Mt. Carmel Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.
