Reminder: Minimum wage increases July 24

Just a reminder: The federal minimum wage increases July 24. It will increase from the current rate of $5.15 an hour to $5.85.

The minimum wage will increase again July 24, 2008, to $6.55, and again July 24, 2009, to $7.25 an hour.

Many states have a minimum wage greater than the federal rate.

All employers are required to post information for employees on the minimum wage, overtime pay, child labor laws, enforcement of the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), and contact information for the U.S. Department of Labor. Posters are available to download at www.dol.gov/compliance/topics/wages-minimum-wage.htm.
