SCUHS president announces retirement
Reed B. Phillips, DC, PhD, who has served as president of Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS) in Whittier, Calif., for the last 16 years, announced his retirement from the position.
Phillips will continue to serve as president of the university until a replacement is secured. The Board of Regents has created a Presidential Search Committee, chaired by Richard Burger, DC, of San Diego. John David Hemauer, DC, and Harry Jacobs, both of Whittier, will assist Burger in the process.
Once a successor is named for SCU, Phillips plans to renew his scholarly interests in the areas of research, teaching, and writing.
Phillips was chairperson of the Chiropractic Advisory Committee for the Veteran’s Association. Through his guidance, and after years of effort, chiropractic care was finally introduced to members of the VA and those who currently serve in the military. Phillips has also been an advocate for the chiropractic profession and has testified locally, regionally, and nationally in support of present and future practitioners.
