Chiropractic school has impact on communities
Chiropractic colleges have a major economic impact on their surrounding communities, a recent report by Logan College of Chiropractic reveals.
Logan continues to have a major economic impact on the St. Louis metropolitan area student spending, tuition, and payroll.
The most recent statistical information available indicates that Logan College has a nearly $45 million annual impact on the St. Louis community, an increase of nearly 25 percent since these figures were last compiled in May 2005.
Currently, Logan College pays $11.2 million dollars in salary to its 226 employees and has approximately $22.6 million in annual income. Its student body spends an estimated $22,184,631 yearly.
Logan’s Postgraduate Department reports that 6,000 practicing chiropractors and/or chiropractic office staff members attend seminars and attend continuing education courses on campus annually. Many of these attendees are from outside the St. Louis area and stay in area hotels, eat at restaurants, and shop at local retail outlets, adding positively to Logan’s impact on the St. Louis economy.
In addition, Logan runs fee-for-service chiropractic teaching clinics, part time chiropractic services at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, a collaborative program at the Women’s Health Center at BJC Hospital, and participates in health fairs and sponsors information booths — all of which increase the economic impact on the community.
