2007 Palmer Homecoming weekend. |
More than 1,800 individuals, including prospective students and their guests, celebrated the 2007 Palmer Homecoming on the Davenport campus August 9–11. The celebration included the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Pisciottano Hall, the new Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Academic Health Center.
Registrants were also able to earn up to 16 hours of continuing-education credits throughout the weekend, as well as shop at more than 77 vendors at the college’s Homecoming Expo. Palmer’s Homecoming is the college’s premier continuing-education and networking event for Palmer alumni.
The new health center, named after Drs. Maurice and Laurel Pisciottano, both Palmer alumni who gave a $3-million challenge pledge to Palmer’s $35 million capital campaign, has 50,000 square feet in three stories. The $10.6 million building received $3.4 million in federal support.
In addition to the pledge from the Pisciottanos, which was the largest alumni contribution, the capital campaign also included a $750,000 challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation, as well as $1.75 million in pledges from the Bechtel Trusts. The Kresge Foundation grant was the first ever awarded to a chiropractic college.
The Palmer Academic Health Center in Pisciottano Hall includes a welcome center, community outpatient clinic facilities, clinical learning resources, digital radiology services, and services for chiropractic rehabilitation and sports injury, workers’ compensation, and personal injury.
