Cleveland provost to serve
on California DWC advisory committee
The provost and academic dean at Cleveland Chiropractic College–Los Angeles, has been named to serve on the Medical Evidence Advisory Committee for the California Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC).
Gary Globe, DC, PhD, has been asked to accept the appointment.
The purpose of the DWC is to provide administrative and judicial services in dispute resolution involving claims for workers’ compensation benefits in the state of California. The 17-member committee is comprised of a broad range of medical professionals, from chiropractic to neurosurgery and internal medicine. The committee reviews cases as needed and makes advisory recommendations to the director regarding a schedule for medical treatment.
Globe, who is also vice president of planning and assessment for the college’s multicampus system, will serve one two-year term on the committee. However, at the end of the term he will remain until an acceptable replacement is located.
The first meeting associated with his appointment is scheduled for late January or early February 2008 and will take place in northern California. Following the initial gathering of the committee, there will be subsequent meetings held at least on a quarterly basis, most of which will be conducted via teleconference.
