OSCA urges members to withhold support
of ACA and ICA
The board of directors of the Ohio State Chiropractic Association (OSCA) unanimously passed a resolution calling on its members to withhold their support of both the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) until the two organizations come together in a merger.
The move by OSCA was prompted by the approval of a similar resolution by the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA).
“It is time for our profession to speak with one voice nationally,” said OSCA Executive Director Woody Woodward.
The OSCA resolution does not include a target date for completion of the merger, although the COSCA statement did — January 2010.
The OSCA resolution, which encourages members to withhold dues to the national associations, is designed to move the groups to a speedy resolution, said Woodward. “We sincerely hope that not one dues dollar is withheld, but that is up to ACA and ICA. If they get this done by the end of this year, then I would expect the national organization will have many more members from Ohio than the two separate organizations do today.”
