Northwestern receives
award
Northwestern Health Sciences
University’s Natural News Service received a Gold Award
in the 13th annual National Health Information Awards for
consumer decision-making information.
The Natural News Service provides
four articles a month on natural healthcare to 900 newspapers
in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota
covering such topics as backpack safety, shoveling safety,
and healthy holiday eating. Other topics have included natural
remedies for headaches, posture, acupuncture for allergies,
and the benefits of massage therapy.
More than 1,000 entries were
submitted for the awards; a national panel of health information
experts evaluated the submissions. Other recipients include
the Mayo Clinic, Ladies Home Journal, Shape Magazine,
Parents Magazine, March of Dimes, the American Heart
Association, and Girl Scouts of the USA.
The awards program is coordinated
by the Health Information Resource Center, which promotes
the distribution of accurate, timely consumer health information
materials to professionals and managers in the field.
