Wellness program available to small employers

Structured wellness programs are generally associated with large employers, but the Web site of the Small Business Wellness Initiative (www.sbwi.org) offers programs for small companies.

SBWI is a north Texas community collaborative project. Its mission is “to enhance the healthy, productivity, and quality of work life for small business leaders, their employees, and their communities.” Its specific aim is to reduce healthcare costs and absenteeism due to illness.

SBWI offers free downloads of wellness programs that any small employer can adapt to the workplace. Programs include teambuilding as well as customized health promotions.

For more information or to download programs, go to the SBWI Web site.
