Cleveland College plans multicultural advocate group
Cleveland Chiropractic College-Kansas City (CCCKC) will soon welcome a new group to campus as the Multicultural Student Advocates (MSA) take their place alongside other organizations at the college. The idea for the group was born out of a discussion between Dennis Giacomino, vice president of enrollment management; Melissa Denton, director of admissions; and Aleta Anthony-Uribe, assistant director of admissions. The focus of their collaboration was to develop a group that would share the diversity of the student body while serving as a bridge to the equally diverse Kansas City community.
The group hopes to achieve those goals by pursuing smaller key objectives including: introducing the college to new and prospective students with culturally diverse backgrounds; assisting the Office of Admissions with multicultural campus visits; presenting and promoting professional careers in chiropractic to local high schools; and providing opportunities for scholarship and leadership advancement.
The idea for the group was so well received on the Kansas City campus that a similar program is being planned for Cleveland Chiropractic College-Los Angeles.
