DC gives interview to CNN
The president of the Georgia Chiropractic Association was interviewed by CNN, for a broadcast scheduled the weekend of April 8 and 9.
Robert Hayden, DC, was interviewed on camera for a segment of House Call Show, hosted by fill-in host Elizabeth Cohen.
Hayden said the segment is primarily on alternative healthcare, including massage therapy and acupuncture. He said, “While I respect both of these fields, I do not consider myself ‘alternative’ or ‘complementary’ to anyone or anything. I am mainstream, and so is what I do.”
Hayden said he emphasized in the interview that chiropractic has come of age with advances in research and technology. “We utilize the same knowledge base, research, and diagnostic skills common to all other mainstream practitioners.”
When the producer asked him what he would say to “sell” chiropractic to someone who did not already know about it, he answered, “I had heard some say they ‘don’t believe in chiropractic.’ To them I had another question: ‘Do you believe in ophthalmology?’ If you have an eye condition, you would logically seek care there because you want the most appropriate and best prepared provider for your situation. If you have a musculoskeletal condition, you should seek chiropractic care first, because we address those problems more effectively, with less expense, with significantly greater probability of returning to work, and with greater patient satisfaction than any other provider.”
Although the interview lasted about two hours, Hayden said, “I have no idea what will survive in the editing process.”
