Northwestern receives award for Healthy U

Northwestern Health Sciences University recently received a gold-level award from Hennepin County for promoting safe and healthy lifestyles among employees through its Healthy U health and wellness program.

To be a gold-level award recipient, companies must:

  • Have a health promotion program that includes a wellness coordinator or wellness team, and has support from upper management;
  • Have completed at least two items in each of six categories (General Worksite, Healthy Behaviors, Nutrition, Safety, Physical Activity, Preventive Services and Policies and Procedures);
  • Collect employee data to assess the needs of the workforce. This data is used to establish goals and objectives or a written work plan for health promotion;
  • Make the health promotion program available to all employees; and
  • Demonstrate results in at least one area.

Last year, Northwestern was one of two companies to receive Hennepin County’s Health @ Work Award, which was replaced this year with bronze-, silver-, and gold-level awards
