N.C. bill would repeal equal co-pay law
A North Carolina law that essentially defines chiropractors as primary-care physicians is being challenged in the state Senate.
In 2005, North Carolina passed a law requiring specifying that the co-payment charged for chiropractic care should not be more than that charged for a primary-care physician. Previously, chiropractors were considered specialists, and insurers could require a higher co-payment.
A bill has been introduced into the N.C. senate that would repeal the law.
The N.C. Chiropractic Association has put out a call to action for chiropractors to contact their state senators and express their opposition to the bill.
