Ms. Fitness 2006: ‘Chiropractic allows me
to perform at my best’
Ms. Fitness 2006, Sarah Harding, says that going to a chiropractor regularly “allows me to perform at my best and enjoy what I am doing.”
Harding, the celebrity featured in the new national advertisements sponsored by the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, is no stranger to chiropractic. And she is excited about helping promote chiropractic to the public.
In an interview she said, “Ever since I can remember I [have gone] to a chiropractor. So, when I heard about the Foundation, I knew that I wanted to be a part of it and support chiropractic care so that others can learn about its benefits.”
Harding’s parents introduced her to chiropractic as a child. She credits chiropractic as helping her to remain competitive. In 1996, after suffering from a stress fracture in her back, a chiropractor helped her regain her fitness and strength. “I was able to continue my gymnastics career. … I became an All American on the floor exercise and helped our team make history where we won the PAC 10 championships in 1998.”
Harding visits her chiropractor approximately every two weeks. Because she works as a professional acrobat, she puts extreme stress on her body. “I believe that seeing a chiropractor every two weeks just allows me to do the job that I have,” she says. “Aches and pains are very natural and normal with a professional athlete, a professional fitness competitor, or any athlete … Going to a chiropractor as a general maintenance program is essential.”
Acknowledging that chiropractors practice in different ways, Harding advises the public, “I strongly recommend chiropractic care for everyone. However, everyone is different. Find a doctor for you. … Everyone has a choice to make health a priority, and it’s your decision how you want to do it. In my case, I have found chiropractic care to be a very healthy one for me.”
