Jerome McAndrews, DC, passes away
Jerome F. McAndrews, DC, an internationally renowned chiropractor responsible for the scientific and practical advancement of the study of chiropractic in the United States and abroad died June 9 in Tulsa, Ok. He was 73.
At the time of his death, McAndrews served as a member of the Board of trustees of NCMIC.
A 1956 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, McAndrews served as president of that school from 1979 to 1987. He was named Chiropractor of the Year in 1973, received an Honorary Doctor of Humanities in 1980 from Palmer College, and was named President of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges in 1981.
During and following his tenure at Palmer and throughout his career which spanned 50 years, he was a tireless and outspoken advocate, lecturer, author and national spokesperson for greater research in the field. His numerous appearances before Congress resulted in unprecedented recognition and changes in the law including chiropractic inclusion in Medicare and other insurance programs as well as broader acceptance in state licensing.
