Northwestern names new president
The Board of Trustees at Northwestern Health Sciences University announced June 30 that Mark Zeigler, DC, will serve as the fifth president of the university. Zeigler, who is a 1980 graduate of Northwestern, will officially begin his duties as president on Sept. 1, 2006.
In his new role, Zeigler will serve as the university’s ambassador to all external constituents, including alumni, associations, and the community; nurture and develop strong alumni relations; serve as the primary fundraiser of the university and strategically work with the development office to identify and cultivate major donors/supporters of the university.
After graduating from Northwestern in 1980, Zeigler established a private practice in Sturgis, S.D. In addition to his practice, Zeigler was active in Sturgis politics. From 1982 to 1996, he served as a city council member; in 2001 he was elected mayor. He will be resigning from that position to serve as Northwestern’s president.
