Second chiropractor named to Team USA in Torino

Two chiropractors will be part of the medical team that will care for U.S. Olympic athletes, according to the official Olympic medical team announcement.

Ira A. Shapiro, DC, director of the Plaza Chiropractic Center located in Old Bridge, N.J., will be working with Jeffrey Solomon, DC, of Miami, Fla., in Torino, Italy, for the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Prior to this appointment, Shapiro served as a member of the medical staff in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. He was also only the ninth chiropractor to have worked in an official capacity in the Olympics.

Shapiro has served on the board of directors of both the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP) and the United States Sports Chiropractic Federation (USSCF).

Solomon’s appointment was previously noted in a news story posted to ChiroEco.com.
