Palmer, alumni back in court

Palmer College of Chiropractic is asking a judge to prohibit its disassociated alumni association from using the letters “PCC,” in addition to a previously granted request to stop using the name “Palmer” and the school’s logo. The alumni association is referring to itself as “College of Chiropractic International Alumni Association” and “PCCIAA.” It also has a Web site, www.pcciaawebsite.org.

A hearing on the request will be held in October.

The college is asking further for “an imposition of a constructive trust” on the association’s money because of what it calls the “illicit continued use of the Palmer name and symbols.” And school officials want “an immediate accounting of all funds” received by the organization, specifically those from a recent mass mailing of a brochure that used “Palmer’s colors of purple and yellow,” according to court documents.

Finally, the college wants the alumni association to send another mailing, rescinding its initial solicitation and stating that the use of the initials PCC is “unauthorized and wrongful.”
