Senate to vote on S-1955 in May
The healthcare bill that would establish small-business healthcare plans, S-1955, will be up for vote in the full Senate during the first week in May.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has outlined his agenda for the next two months, according to CongressDaily. During what he dubbed “health week,” the first week in May, S-1955 is scheduled for vote. The bill, also known as the association health plan bill, would, according to its backers, make it easier and cheaper for small businesses to team up to buy group health insurance.
Those who oppose the bill, including Democrats, some consumer advocates, and state insurance commissioners, oppose the small-business plan.
The American Chiropractic Association has led a campaign for the defeat of this bill. Full text of the bill is available online through the Library of Congress access to legislative action, Thomas. Go to http://thomas.loc.gov/ and type in S. 1955 in the search area.
