Chiropractic Coalition to ‘march’ on Washington
The Chiropractic Coalition’s 3rd Annual Legislative Day has been scheduled for Thursday, May 4, 2006 in Washington, DC. Lobbying against the passage of S-1955 (the small business health insurance bill) is a top priority of the coalition, which consists of the International Chiropractors Association (ICA), the World Chiropractic Alliance (WCA), and the Federation of Straight Chiropractors and Organizations (FSCO).
The 2006 schedule will include a kick-off orientation at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, a Thursday morning issue briefing, and special presentations by key Congressional leaders. The day will conclude with a reception in the LBJ Room of the U.S. Capitol.
“Congress will always be a vitally important battleground for the future of chiropractic,” said ICA Legislative Committee Co-Chairman Michael S. McLean, DC. “Every doctor of chiropractic, student, family member and patient has a stake in the outcome of the Coalition’s legislative efforts and everyone interested in the future of chiropractic is not only welcome, but needed at this key lobbying event. Also, this will probably be the last opportunity to lobby in the critical S.1955 issue before the vote.”
The member organizations of the coalition will be promoting a legislative agenda that includes opposition to S. 1995, Medicare improvements, commissions for doctors of chiropractic as military officers, chiropractic inclusion in the TRICARE program for military dependents and retirees, and other key initiatives.
Interested chiropractors can register at the coalition’s Web site, www.chiropracticcoalition.org/pages/legislativeday.html.
