Tsunami victims receive nutritional products

Victims of the recent Indian Ocean tsunami have received nutritional help in the form of $250,000 in supplements and food bars from Metagenics, Inc. The donated products are being distributed in and around the town of Batticaloa, located in Sri Lanka’s northeast region and one of the areas hardest hit by the tsunami.

“For many of the victims, these products are their sole food source right now,” said Jeannette de Langis, RN, a representative of Aid to Sri Lankan Tsunami Victims, a group of volunteer healthcare practitioners.

Metagenics’ donation includes children’s probiotics, omega-3 essential fatty acids, and nutritional bars.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and wish to help in big and small ways in thought and deed,” said Janice Moore, chief operating officer of Metagenics.
