Class action lawsuit filed against
practice-management group
The Masters Circle, a long-established practice-management group, has become the target of a class action suit instigated by an Iowa mother and her teenaged son. The suit alleges that the company conspires to get patients to pay for unnecessary chiropractic treatment.
According to Larry Markson, DC, co-founder of The Masters Circle, “The charges [the mother] has leveled in her lawsuit are not only false, they are offensive and despicable. They represent everything we are not. … We have a longstanding reputation for teaching professional ethics and honesty and we advise telling patients up front what they can reasonably expect. We recommend full reporting to every patient before administering any care.”
The lawsuit against The Masters Circle developed after the patient and his mother sued the treating chiropractor for malpractice. According to The Masters Circle, the plaintiff dismissed the case when the boy testified that he no longer experienced pain and headaches following chiropractic treatment.
The class action lawsuit filed in an Iowa state court is attempting to seek monetary damages from the treating chiropractor, The Masters Circle and others, on behalf of the teenager and other patients who have undergone chiropractic treatment by a member of The Masters Circle.
Markson said, “We are confident this case will show that professionally conducted chiropractic care is beneficial and The Masters Circle is about practicing ethically and consistently with the patient’s best interests. … Once the truth is known, the claims in this suit will be shown to be utterly baseless, frivolous and malicious. We look forward to having our names cleared and our professional reputations restored.”
