Parker dean elected to AVCA post

Dr. Gene Giggleman, dean of academic affairs of Parker College of Chiropractic, has been elected president elect of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) Cabinet.

Giggleman, a licensed and practicing veterinarian, will serve as president elect until the Annual General Meeting in Fall 2007. AVCA is a professional membership association dedicated to promoting animal chiropractic to professionals and the public and serves as the certifying agency for licensed doctors of chiropractic and licensed doctors of veterinary medicine who have undergone animal chiropractic training.

Parker College is one of only three programs in the nation offering instruction in chiropractic treatment for animals. The course, which Giggleman helped design and implement, prepares successful program participants to sit for the AVAC certification exam.

Giggleman has been a licensed veterinarian since 1981 and first joined Parker College in 1984 as dean of student affairs and has taught courses in systemic anatomy and pharmacology/toxicology. He became dean of academic affairs in 2000. He holds a doctor of veterinary medicine from Texas A& M University as well as a bachelor of science in veterinary science and a bachelor of science in biomedical science.
