College offers free natural health services to senior citizens
FEB. 16, 2005 — Northwestern Health Sciences University has partnered with HealthEast Care System to provide complimentary chiropractic services to seniors living in the HealthEast Care Center-Marian of St. Paul. The center has a nursing home and 127 independent and assisted-living apartments.
Paul Osterbauer, DC, as associate professor at Northwestern, will work in the center’s onsite clinic 10 hours a week. He will provide assessments, adjustments and other therapies, including hot packs, ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation and focused soft-tissue work. His services will be provided at no charge to the patients.
“Northwestern is very committed to the seniors at the Marian Center,” Deborah Miller, LPN, Northwestern’s clinic administrator, said.
The goal of the partnership is to reduce the number of medications residents require and reduce the amount of pain they experience. Osterbauer began working at the site Feb. 7. Student interns may join him in providing services this summer.
