FCER represents chiropractic in nursing journal
Ronald C. Evans, DC, FACO, FICC, board member of the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER), and Anthony L. Rosner, PhD, FCER director of research and education, have published “Alternatives in Cancer Pain Treatment: The Application of Chiropractic Care,” in the journal Seminars in Oncology Nursing.
The article, published in the August 2005 issue of Seminars (Volume 21, Issue 3, pages 184–189), methodically lays out the rationale for the use of chiropractic management of pain in cancer patients. The authors point out that non-pharmacological treatments for pain control may be necessary for patients who “(1) have poor responses to medical treatment or medical contraindications for further pharmacologic treatment; (2) wish to become pregnant or are nursing; (3) have a history of long-term, frequent, or excessive use of analgesic or pain-abortive medications that can aggravate other problems; or (4) simply prefer to avoid the use of medications.”
