Northwestern announces administrative changes

Alfred Traina, DC, president of Northwestern Health Sciences University, recently announced several administrative changes, including two associate vice president appointments and two associate dean appointments.

Noni Threinen, DC, MS, has been appointed associate vice president of institutional effectiveness. Previously Threinen was the institutional effectiveness administrator. Her role is to oversee the unfolding of Northwestern’s five-year strategic plan.

Meanwhile, Emily Tweed, PhD, has been appointed associate vice president and dean of students. Previously she was the dean of student affairs. In her new role, she will continue to oversee the Office of Student Affairs. She will also oversee the Office of Alumni Relations and Career Services, as well as the development of an Office of Multicultural Affairs.

Lynne Hvidsten, DC, has been named the associate dean of clinical education for Northwestern College of Chiropractic. Hvidsten will oversee the Department of Clinical Education, which manages the clinical experiences and clinical competency assessment of chiropractic students who are placed within the large network of community clinics and the clinics of the University.

Kurt Wood, DC, has been named the associate dean of clinical services for the chiropractic program. Wood will assist Michael Wiles, DC, dean of the chiropractic program, and Deborah Miller, LPN, clinic administrator, in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and protocols for the delivery of chiropractic care within the University clinic system.

His primary responsibilities will include supervising the chiropractic clinical faculty, developing and implementing a clinic quality assurance program, and assisting Miller in practice development initiatives. Wood will also provide leadership for the implementation of the best clinical practices program.
