Parker alumni recognize chiropractic leaders
Parker College of Chiropractic presented numerous awards to alumni during its recent Homecoming and License Renewal weekend.
Tracy Wilson, DC, of Lubbock, Texas, was named Alumni of the Year in recognition of his community outreach and his dedication to the chiropractic profession. A member of the Parker Alumni Board of Directors, Wilson created “The Wellness Place” that includes four doctors of chiropractic, five massage therapists, a Creating Wellness Center, and a complete nutrition store in one location.
The Dr. James W. Parker award was presented toLloyd A. Steffensmeier, DC, founder of Lloyd’s Tables, for his dedication to the chiropractic profession. Steffensmeir began designing chiropractic tables as a chiropractic student in the mid 1950s. Since that time, he has continually developed better tables to assist chiropractors in their practices and contributed to numerous chiropractic schools and organizations.
Alfred States, DC, past chair of the Department of Analysis and Technique at Parker College, was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award for his overall contributions to Parker College and the chiropractic profession. He was a faculty member at Parker for 16 years and the author of several books on chiropractic techniques.
Angela Baylis, DC, of Raleigh, N.C., was named Chiropractor of the Year in recognition of the promotion of wellness education in her community and for her dedication to mentoring young chiropractors.
Baylis volunteers at many Raleigh community organizations and is currently developing a program to help college students with eating disorders.
International Chiropractor of the Year was awarded to Scott Harry Garber, DC, who organized the first Parker alumni gathering in Australia. Garber has assisted with fundraisers for charities such as Mission Australia, Victorian Relief Food Drive, and Hand on Health.
The Young Alumni of the Year award was presented to Jason Clemmons, DC, who currently operates three chiropractic offices in Lubbock, Texas. Active in numerous organizations while a Parker student, Clemmons received the award for his visibility in his community and for his progress in the chiropractic profession.
Troy Liming, DC, was named Clinic Faculty of the Year and Bahram Sardarabadi, DC, was selected as Faculty of the Year. The faculty members were selected for the honor by Parker students. Liming is an assistant professor of Chiropractic Wellness Clinics and Sardaraabadi is an associate professor of Basic Sciences.
