COCSA wants Congress to ‘Straighten Up!’

The Congress of Chiropractic State Associations is preparing to launch a national effort to demonstrate the “Straighten Up, America!” program to Congress. Its goal is to get Congressional endorsement and a multimillion-dollar funding for the program.

“If we are successful, this will be a huge opportunity for the profession and the public to raise the bar in health promotion,” said Janet Jorden, COCSA executive director, in a letter to chiropractors.

Jordan says that the program has received “rave reviews” in every venue where it is presented. “With Congressional funding, we are planning to empower the entire profession to educate the public in the simple and enjoyable “straighten up” exercises and lifestyle recommendations, which include regular spinal checkups and care.”

The program has four goals:

  1. To improve posture and function;
  2. To stabilize core musculature;
  3. To enhance spinal and neurological health; and
  4. To prevent spinal subluxations.

Details of the program are available on the COCSA Web site, www.cocsa.org, under “resources.”

Jordan’s letter to chiropractors asks for financial help to promote the program to Congress. For more information, contact Jordan at cocas@sc.rr.com or call 803-356-6809.
