WFC delegates attend WHO annual meeting
A nine-member delegation from the World Federation of Chiropractic attended the annual World Health Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland, May 16-20. More than 2,200 people from WHO’s 192 member states, nongovernmental organizations, and other observers were in attendance.
The assembly is the policy-setting and decision-making body of WHO. It appoints the director-general and supervises the financial policies of WHO. The theme of the conference was “Health, Mothers and Children: Make every mother and child count.”
Keynote speaker for the event was Microsoft’s Bill Gates, who pledged $450 million for healthcare research.
WFC delegates included Drs. Anthony Metcalfe, WFC president; Rand Baird, chair WFC Health-for-All Committee; Sira Borges, past president, Brazilian Chiropractors’ Association; Michel Tetrault, Chiropractic Diplomatic Corps; and Ernst Anrig, Cleveland College of Chiropractic. Also attending were David Chapman-Smith, WFC secretary-general; Edward Leonard, World Congress of Chiropractic Students; David O’Bryon, executive director, Association of Chiropractic Colleges; and Huldy Anrig.
