Greenawalt elected to Bone and Joint Decade Board
Kent Greenawalt, president and CEO of Foot Levelers, Inc., has been elected to serve on the United States Bone and Joint Decade (USBJD) Board as a “member at large,” representing patients and the public.
Greenawalt was nominated to the position by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and was elected during the USBJD’s annual board meeting June 7 in Tampa, Fla.
“As an effective businessman, humanitarian, and leader within the chiropractic community, Mr. Greenawalt understands the burden of musculoskeletal problems on society and is uniquely qualified to serve on the USBJD Board as a representative for patients and the public,” said ACA President Donald J. Krippendorf, DC.
The goal of the Bone and Joint Decade campaign is to improve the quality of life for people with musculoskeletal disorders and advance the understanding and treatment of these conditions through research, prevention, and education.
Worldwide, 38 national governments have endorsed the Decade, and more than 750 organizations, health ministries, healthcare groups and journals have signed a declaration of support. President Bush has officially proclaimed the years 2002–2011 as the National Bone and Joint Decade.
In addition to the ACA, organizations represented on the U.S. Steering Committee include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American College of Rheumatology, American College of Rheumatology Research and Education Foundation, American Physical Therapy Association, American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, Arthritis Foundation, National Athletic Trainers’ Association, National Osteoporosis Foundation, Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, Shriners Hospitals for Children, United Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation, National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses, and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.
