Parker researchers win first prize
A team of researchers from Parker College of Chiropractic Research Institute led by Dr. Xue-Jun Song claimed first place for the best scientific paper at the recent World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) 8th Biennial Congress.
Team members assisting with the research include Drs. Jun-li Cao, Zheng-bei Wang, Ronald L. Rupert; and Qiang Gan.
The award-winning research paper, “Spinal Manipulation Reduces IVF Inflammatory Pain,” placed first among 180 research papers submitted for the competition. The research provides evidence that spinal manipulation reduces pain associated with nerve inflammation.
“One of the most important contributions of the research was to document for the first time, an underlying physiological mechanism to explain the pain reducing effects of spinal manipulation,” said Rupert.
The WFC honor is the highest research award made in the chiropractic profession. The first place paper will be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT). The winner also receives a cash prize.
