Collaboration helps modernize Georgia law
Life University, the Georgia Council of Chiropractic (GCC), the Georgia Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and the Georgia Chiropractic Association (GCA) are working together to update the scope of practice for chiropractors in Georgia.
The group hosted Georgia legislators Aug. 11, on the Life campus to discuss the modernization process. A proposed bill is a consensus document developed by the four organizations.
According to a Life University press release, the proposed revision to the 1921 Practice Act for Chiropractic (43-9-1) describes the common services chiropractors provide today, with the advent of newer technology, and clarifies their role as modern healthcare providers.
Attendees from the House of Health and Human Services included: Sen. Renee Untermann, vice-chair; Rep. Sharon Cooper, chair; Rep. Ed Rynders, vice-chair; and Rep. Sue Burmeister, member.
