Chiropractic for Tricare introduced in House

New Hampshire Congressman Jeb Bradley has introduced legislation that would establish accessible and permanent chiropractic benefits program in the federal Tricare health system for military dependents and retirees.

Tricare provides healthcare benefits for more than 8 million individuals. This legislation (HR 1594, “Chiropractic Health Parity for Military Retirees and Dependents Act”) would provide healthcare services that would include chiropractic. The bill also states that chiropractic services could only be provided by a doctor of chiropractic and that covered beneficiaries may have direct access without referral by another healthcare practitioner.

If this bill is passed and signed into law, it would go into effect no later than Dec. 31, 2005.
