NIH, Canada sponsor conference on manual therapies

The National Institutes of Health and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research are jointly sponsoring a conference on manual therapies, June 9-10, 2005, in Bethesda, Md.

The conference will cover the underlying biology of manual therapies, which include techniques that focus on the structures and systems of the body, including the bones and joints, soft tissues and the circulatory and lymphatic systems. Chiropractic and massage therapy are examples of manual therapies.

Experts from the NIH and CIHR will join academic, patient advocacy and professional organizations to assess current knowledge and identify opportunities for additional research.

Cost of the conference is $35. For more information go to www.yesevents.com/NCCAM/.
