SACA elects national officers
The Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) recently elected a new team of national officers at its annual meeting in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Derek Dyer, a student at the National University of Health Sciences, was elected SACA national chairperson. Other newly elected SACA national officers include: national vice chair, Eddie Leonard of Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida; national legislative chair, Julie Kruse from Palmer College of Chiropractic West; and national vice legislative chair, Tony Wangerin of Northwestern College of Chiropractic.
Andrew Cohen from Palmer College of Chiropractic West will serve as SACA’s immediate past national chair.
In addition to electing officers, the organization recognized several award and scholarship winners. In recognition of outstanding student participation and leadership, the SACA chapter from the National University of Health Sciences was named “Chapter of the Year,” while Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida was named “Most Improved Chapter.”
Also recognized for superior leadership were several individual members, including Marc Persson from the New York Chiropractic College, who was presented the “Excellence in Leadership Award” and Andrew Cohen from Palmer Chiropractic College West, who was named “SACA Member of the Year.”
David Haas and Brianne Hanson, both from Northwestern Health Sciences University, received Legislative Advocacy Awards.
The American Chiropractic Foundation/ACAuxiliary presented its annual scholarships to 14 outstanding chiropractic students. This year’s recipients include:
• Andrew Cohen, Nicole Olsen — Palmer College of Chiropractic West;
• Brandon Lemuel, Corey Malnikof — Palmer College of Chiropractic Davenport;
• Sylvia Clark — Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida;
• Brad Woodle, Kenzie Satter, Ben Ische — Northwestern Chiropractic College;
• Shawn Williams, Jonathon Egan — New York Chiropractic College;
• Lisa Hetrick, Robert Rice — Logan College of Chiropractic;
• Jennifer Price — Cleveland Chiropractic College of Los Angeles; and
• Meghan Zack — Texas Chiropractic College.
During the past year, SACA, the student organization of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), has included more than half of all students enrolled in a chiropractic college. SACA members are recognized as the future leaders of the profession.
