Northwestern boasts record fall
enrollment of new students
A record 191 new students have enrolled in Northwestern Health Sciences University. The 2004 fall trimester class size is up from 148 last year, marking a successful upswing in natural health care recruitment. Of the 191 new students, 132 are in the chiropractic program, up from 99 in fall 2003.
Through the past three-to-five years, many institutions have seen a drop in enrollment due to economic concerns and/or general flux in higher education. “We are on an upswing and are looking forward to upcoming classes,” said Bill Kuehl, director of admissions.
In addition to the DC program’s 132 students, the Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program welcomed 28 new students, up from 27 in the fall 2003 class. With several students on an overflow waiting list, 28 new massage therapy students began the program, up from 22 in the fall 2003 class. New this semester is the addition of an Integrative Health and Wellness program, which brought in two new students.
Kuehl attributes the increases to a combination of successful advertising campaign and the hard work of Northwestern’s admissions staff, faculty, and of course alumni.
