WFC, FCER request papers for research conference

The World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) and the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER) invite doctors of chiropractic and other interested parties to submit papers for presentation as part of the International Conference on Chiropractic Research (ICCR), part of the WFC’s 8th Biennial Congress in Sydney, Australia, June 16-18, 2005.

The Congress is being held in association with the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research, Chiropractors’ Association of Australia, the New Zealand Chiropractic Association and the Fédération Internationale de Chiropratique du Sport (FICS).

Approximately 100 abstracts will be accepted for platform and poster presentation. Awards of $7,000 (Scott Haldeman Award for first prize), $4,000 (second prize) and $2,500 (third prize) and $1,500 (private practice award for best research from a clinician in private practice) are available.

These awards are sponsored by the U.S. National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Award winning papers will be published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT).

Categories of Research
Abstracts should be submitted in one of the following categories:

• Basic Sciences. This primarily addresses the use of animals and computer-related research or investigation on cadavers.

• Diagnostic Sciences. This includes the evaluation of various diagnostic or analytical methods or instruments.

• Clinical management. This includes clinical trials, retrospective studies and multiple case studies. The presentation of new adjusting/manipulation methods are encouraged but such presentations should include some clinical data collection on why the particular techniques described should be considered.

• Special interests. Papers on history, anthropology, epidemiology, cost of care, standards of care and educational methods would fall into this category.

The deadline for abstract submission is Dec. 31, 2004. Submissions should be made directly to the WFC and FCER by e-mail.
