FCER receives financial support
The Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER) has received financial support from two major chiropractor vendors. The support from Foot Levelers Inc. and NCMIC Insurance Company will allow the continuing studies of three chiropractic researchers as well as to develop a chiropractic research infrastructure.
“Foot Levelers and NCMIC have expressed their commitment to the future of chiropractic research by contributing to research fellowships for chiropractors pursuing post-doctoral education in this field,” said FCER President, Vincent P. Lucido, DC.
The three renewed FCER Fellows, sponsored by Foot Levelers, are:
• Cornelius Myburgh, DC, who is seeking a B.Phil. in social sciences research methodology at the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa
Within the past year Myburgh coauthored a groundbreaking prospective randomized clinical trial addressing osteoarthritis of the knee (comparing manipulation with the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug Meloxicam) which was published in the European Journal of Chiropractic;
• Kathleen Linaker, DC, who is seeking her PhD in higher education, leadership foundations and counseling psychology at Loyola University in Chicago; and
• Brian Enebo, DC, MS, who is pursuing a PhD in motor-skill control and learning at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Enebo has examined the effect of experience in chiropractic on the precision of force production and crafted an apparatus to that effect. In addition, he developed and implemented most of the testing protocol, recruitment, and data analysis for this project.
In addition to the four renewed Fellowships, the NCMIC contribution will support three new Fellows:
• Marion Evans, DC, who is seeking his PhD in health promotion and health behavior at the University of Alabama;
• Anthony D’Antoni, DC, MS, who seeks his PhD in health sciences at Seton Hall University;
• Judith A. Polipnick, DC, PhD, who is continuing her education with a Master of Clinical Research degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Division of Graduate Studies.
